New Year's Resolutions

Jan 12, 2009 19:46

Ok, So I am running behind as always. I finally got around to figuring out my resolutions.

1) Lose weight

2) Be on time

3) Find ways to be more productive (especially stop procrastinating on stuff)

4) Send out cards and gifts on time. Keep in contact with family and friends

5) Work on controlling my temper (which isn't nearly as bad as it used to be)

6) Stop procrastinating

7) Get rid of household clutter

8) Refine shopping habits (find ways to reduce clutter

Ok, so when I got done I notice that two different resolutions mention the same thing as part of the resolution. Procrastination and clutter seem to be the big issues lately. I'm pretty good with the "be on time" part but I find I really lose it when I am trying to get the family ready to go somewhere (maybe that is just normal for anyone with kids?).

I am Notoriously terrible at sending out greeting cards for holidays and getting packages in the mail. I don't know why it is so hard to mail things out. That can even be said about trying to run a web site for BKC. When I actually tried it I would only ever get back to about 1 in 5 customers. If I actually got back to them and they paid me I would make sure they got their stuff. But most of the time their e-mail would get lost in my inbox with the note "to do, later". Of course later never comes. I guess that is the same thing with cards and letters and stuff.

What's left. Clutter and shopping habbits. I inherited bargain shopping from my mother so we always have a lot of crap we may not need at the time (but are going to need eventually). This can come in real handy and sometimes seems to cause more trouble than it might be worth. I know that because of a super awesome deal at Costco one time I haven't had to buy scotch tape or packing tape for 2 years. I should have enough to last at least 2 more. Tape can be expensive and it doesn't take up a lot of space, that was a good choice. But all those Halloween party decorations and Christmas decorations that we have yet to use in 4 years might not have been such a good deal if no one is EVER going to use them.

So, I need to figure out what we have that will never see the light of day again and just get rid of it. When I go shopping I have to ask myself more than once, "are we REALLY going to use this"? I admit I have done better lately, but I think I still need to work on it.

I think that just leaves lose weight. That's a pretty common one, even for people who don't even need to lose any. What else can I say? I don't go outside much any more and I hate to exercise. Right there I just made that goal real difficult. Allura loves to ride her bike and we had a particular route we would walk every evening if the weather was nice. I need to make sure we go back to that in the spring. I wonder if any fitness places around with swimming pool access (that have a decently warm pool) are reasonably priced? Allura loves to swim and I wouldn't be able to put it off with her nagging to go all the time. Too bad I don't know anyone with a tennis racquet, mine would love to come out of the closet some day.
