so i'm finally 21. it's nice, but it doesn't feel very different from 20. i guess i'll realize the effects when i'm back in america. i've been able to drink in germany for the last 5 years (but haven't really taken advantage of that). nonetheless, i'm definitely looking forward to going to the abc store and purchasing alcohol and going to the supermarket and buying beer. woooop. bars!

my sister threw me a party yesterday and it was pretty sweet. a couple of her friends came over around 3 for coffee and cake. i had 3 birthday cakes. 3! cheesecake, raspberry-mascarpone, and apple with a crust made out of white chocolate and cornflakes. delicious.

right after that... we started with cocktails. serap was (is?) a bartender, so she made pina coladas, swimming pools, caipirinhas, and other random fruity alcoholic concoctions. i didn't get drunk, but my sister's friends did. mind you, they're all married with 3 year old toddlers, so it was very entertaining. i guess my german is pretty decent afterall, because i understood all the dirty stories they traded around the table. had a great dinner with everyone and continued drinking.

this time next week i'll be packing/crying as i get ready to go back to america. sigh. but i've decided not to think about that. i'm thoroughly enjoying my time here, even if my days consist of waking up early to watch the baby, watching tv with my sister, and spending afternoons on the playground.
