Soda Popkinsky.
Been having an ok day, decent week. Been watching a lot of movies so I guess my mood is up. I download stuff, and had a backlog of movies to watch. Posted reviews on FB, don’t recall if I posted them here. (For the 3 of you still reading.) Will try to post the reviews later, but the basic rundown is as follows.
Focus-F: sorry excuse for a heist movie, ridiculous love story, bad acting, worse writing, turned it off with 30 minutes left.
Kill the Messenger-B+: nothing special, but interesting story if you like journalism/politics and decent acting.
Walk Among the Tombstones-C+: basic crime drama, nothing to shout about, but Liam Neeson is riveting as always and the 1999 setting gave it charm.
Nicghtcrawler-A+: unsettling, disturbing, brilliant acting from Jake Glyenhall.
Big Hero 6-B-: generic Disney movie with a little comedy and sweetness, but kinda dull. Great for kids though despite the limited violence.
Age of Ultron-A-: fast, hectic, a bit over stuffed, but great comic book movie be/c it plays exactly as a superhero comic reads.
Ex Machina-A+: one of the best films I have ever seen. Beautiful in every way, combines art and entertainment and tells an important, powerful story using dialogue, framing, editing, and sound.
Interstellar-B-: Chris Nolan is a weirdo. Lots of science, should have been all science, but devolves into typical movie of the week type parable about indominatable spirits, love conquering all, and magic paradoxes.
Still Alice-A-: gut wrenching tale of loss with great acting. Was turned off by the lack of affection in such a small, family oriented drama. Made me realize all of these movies really lacked affectionate humans, except Big Hero 6 and Interstellar.
Foxcatcher-B+: amazing acting, everyone transports you into this strange tale with their incredible physical transformations. A slow, uneven, film that left me confused, but kept me engrossed till the end.
Been marathoning Dancing with the Stars most of the day. Such a fun show! I love the dances, the personalities of the stars is really palpable, and it all just works to entertain. I can totally understand its popularity.
Went to my old job site for first since quitting on May 1. Had to pick up a Transformer I had on layaway. Only a couple people seemed weirded out to see me, but everyone spoke if I said hi first.
I am taking 2 summer courses, and a possible third depending on how I like the first week of Photoshop. It’s a three day a week class that meets at night, so even if I like it, I might drop it. Plus, I don’t know if we’ll have projects that have to be worked on at home. If so, my laptop is wayy to old and slow to be running Photoshop.
But we’ll see.
Since summer classes are squared away, I started planning what fall schedule will be. I have it narrowed down to 13 different classes. Just need to decide which ones I really want to take and what times I want to be out driving. My car is in bad shape, so I need to get it fixed. I took out a student loan for that purpose, but class starts on June 23 so I don’t get any money until July 23. I could ask my grand father for the money and pay him back, but I hate asking anyone for money, especially him. He can be a real asshole about it.
But it would be better to get this done now while I have nowhere to drive. I hate life sometimes.
