Christ that was the most terrifying experience! I couldn't find my glasses so the first minute was flying blind, in the dark. I yelped cos I heard something break, and my dvd tower fell over, spilling dvds everywhere. It was just one glass that broke tho; all my photo frames are intact. I thought my computer might have been broken, but it's aaaall fine. I keep starting at unexpected noises tho.
So you all know, we're fine, there don't seem to be any casualties, but there's a lot of structural damage in the city. I still have power on but I appeared to be of a minority as of this morning, but a lot of people have their power back now.
God I need sleep. I feel so wired. Strung out. I keep feeling phantom tremors because I'm so nervous about more aftershocks.
The worst that happened at work, luckily.
See how very lucky it is that this happened at 4:30am? If it had been midday, and people were walking about on the streets, so many more people would have been injured or maybe killed by falling masonry.
A ton more photos here of various parts of the city that I didn't go to. I think we're all counting our blessings today.
