Just about to read the sequel (been recc'd very enthuastically), but is this only a one-shot?
I really don't want to go on and realise I've missed something really important :P

Mrs. Jones is a one-shot in the sense that there are no other parts to this particular story. It is, as you already know, the prequel to You've Got to Hide Your Love Away (glad to hear it's being recc'd so enthusiastically!). Both of them are in my Homesick in Heaven series which will, eventually, have five stories total (don't worry, there's only the two right now).

it's the Doctor is too attached to Miss Rose

Post JE, this is what you are convinced of? Ok, Turn Left, yes. But then RTD ripped the rug out from under our feet on Bad Wolf Bay AGAIN! (Yes, peeps, he is evil incarnate.) And I was left feeling like the Doctor wasn't all that attached to Rose after all.
OHMYGAWD!!! I think I just figured out what's had me so bitter all this time! It's not that she was left with the booby prize. It was that the brand new car behind door number one acted like he didn't care about her anymore. This is why I'm upset!
...Not like that makes things any easier but at least I know why I sometimes feel like throwing Duplicate!Doctor into the void.

But one question. Why come back to her original universe, leaving behind her family, if she didn't mean to find the Doctor? Or would those be spoilers? ^_^

Sort of spoilers, sort of not.
Let's just say that things change, decisions are reconsidered, and sometime friends make mistakes. :)
