Okay, the most adorable thing in the world is happening in my house right now and I have to tell everyone about it:
Ethan is trying to teach Gabe how to play Cariboo. It's obviously too advanced for Gabe, but that doesn't seem to be deterring either of them - Ethan is instructing Gabe on procedure. "It's your turn now, Gabe, so you take a card. No, take a card. A card! Here, I'll just pick it for you. It says triangle, so find a door with a triangle on it. No, a triangle. A triangle! This one - this door has a triangle on it. Open it. With the key. No, the key! The key, Gabe. No, no, like this!". This is clearly frustrating the crap out of both of them, but Gabe is so excited to be playing with Ethan that he doesn't seem to mind having no idea what he's doing. And Ethan is so happy to be teaching Gabe new things that he doesn't seem to mind the level of incompetence he is encountering. They are actually playing - taking turns and sharing the game and saying "Please" and "Thank you" and now they've finished the game and Gabe is gleefully shouting and requesting "More game! More game!".
Yesterday afternoon, the two of them cuddled up together in Ethan's bed, and I found them that way, all tucked in next to each other with Ethan reading Gabe a book. They had their arms around each other, just blissed out because they were together. And then they invited me to join them, and I got to snuggle in between them. Boy sandwich.
Granted, Vyvanse is what is making all of this possible. But still: HOW GREAT ARE MY KIDS?
gabe,
