(Knitting) I am Einstein

I am working on the raglan sleeve shaping on the back of the baby sweater I'm knitting. My work has already encountered multiple complications, including a rather large gauge miscalculation (yes, I did a swatch) and some roundabout reworkings due to the pattern being written for a size quite a bit far off of the size I intended to make. So I've been concerned about the sleeve shaping. This evening, I ended up taking some of Gabe's old sweaters out and measuring my work against them to get an idea of where I stood, and I saw what seemed to be a glaring error in my work - namely, the shoulders were going to be way too big. So I thought and thought and calculated and recalculated, and came up with a solution that involved ripping a few dozen rows back, which I did. Then I consulted the pattern again, consulted some folks on Ravelry, consulted the photos, and realized that what I had been doing would have turned out just fine if I'd left it alone.

I just ripped back 21 rows of knitting.

For no reason at all.

Stabbity stab fuckity fuck.

knitting, rant
