It was awesome!!!!
We got into Penn Station around 11:30 & went immediately for a drink. Then we walked (more like pub crawled because that is what Chip & I do) stopped at Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza, Central Park, had a nice lunch in the theater district. Settled in at a bar across from the Daily Show studios. They do overbook the show, so all the e-mails we got suggested gettng in line between 3:30 & 4. Since we hate waiting in line, we went around 3:50. Once they started handing out tickets though we thought we were in trouble. Chip & I were 3 & 4 in standby. How bitter would I have been had we not gotten in? We did though. The warm up guy was just alright, but then John Stewart came out....he is so tiny. I am 5'3" and he looked shorter than me. He took some audience questions & the man is so hilarious. I mean I expected him to be funny but he really on the spot was cracking me up. It isn't all just great writing on the show, he ad-libs a lot. In fact his little "coming up on tonight's show" blurb was totally a rip on some guy's audience question from 2 minutes before. The whole show was great, Jake Gyllenhaal is a hotty. When we were leaving we saw John Oliver too:) Walked quickly back to Penn Station & ran onto a train, we were home by 9:30. Chip & I have decided that we don't take enough advantage of being so close to New York, or even Philadelphia for that matter;) We want to go to a Colbert Report taping next, but his website never seems to show available dates. I'll be checking weekly though!
