HAVE to tell you about this book!!!

lyzzybee have raved about it ...but after reading Emotional Geology and writing my brief review for Amazon (mentioned earlier) I thought it was time to read Linda Gillard's second novel, A Lifetime Burning (Linda's sent copies of this for the Charleston Convention too btw!;))
Well Linda has done it again! I was hooked from the first page...and have read the first 99 pages non-stop. I've now had to take a breather so decide to put some thoughts down on here.
This is going to be an emotional rollercoaster I feel....loved the way it began, with the main character's funeral! After this we are getting to know Flora - whizzing backwards and forwards in time, but it's OK ...it works so well! I know this isn't going to be an easy book to read - we are told early on about Flora's incestuous affair with her nephew (something I was immediately uncomfortable about having 2 teenage nephews of my own!).
The structure of the book is so beautifully done - Flora is the narrator in parts (the font changes when she narrates so it avoids becoming confusing)...and when the book goes back in time it's as though we get flashbacks of scenes from a play....ooooh I just love it!
This is going to be an interesting one! It's now 22.43 and since I'm working tomorrow I'd normally be thinking about going to bed...but I think I'll just get into bed and read a few more pages....
