Searching for a DMC Crochet Cotton supplier in the UK......

Jan 21, 2007 09:09

I've downloaded some lovely crochet patterns from the e-patterns website I recently discovered ...cept of course it's American and uses American yarn.

Now I can cope with the conversions normally, and the hooks are OK cos I have a conversion thingy...threads are another matter,   and I have to do gauge tests to sort out suitable weights each time!    However this cotton looks so lovely and soft in the pattern pic and perfect for this light lacy jackety thing I want to make I would like to make it in the stuff  it was designed for....but after searching for ages couldn't come up with a UK supplier! :(

Then I went onto the DMC website (should've looked there first!) and there are 4 towns in Oxfordshire who sell the stuff - including Abingdon and Wantage, both within 6 miles of my house!

However.....it remains to be seen if they sell what I need which is DMC Senso Microber size 3 Crochet Cotton -  I bet they dont and if they do not in a lovely greeny colour I'd like!  So I guess I'll have to take my pattern and ask their opinion of which alternative use.  It suggests a 3.5mm crochet hook which isn't too fine I suppose....

I must remember when I'm out in Charleston to get Czukie or Martip to show me where the yarn shops are so I can stock up with yarn I can't buy over here!
