Eww.

So, over the weekend, the used bookstore where I work had a sewer pipe break and flood the basement. As a consecuence, we were closed all weekend and lost over 3000 books. The insurance company and the health department are battling over stuff. This is a disaster, I cried when I found out on Saturday. My manager told me not to come in, they had more volunteers than they knew what to do with. so I stayed at home until today. We are open upstairs, but it will be a week or so before we're ready again downstairs. Things have been cleaned up really well, carpet ripped up, books that are unharmed boxed up and shelves moved. Soon we will bleach everything. The cat is living with a friend. Sales were up today though, despite everything. And I reccommended "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" (how to underline??) to someone so I was pleased with that.

John Fowles has died. That makes me sad. He wrote one of my favourite books, "The French Lieutenant's Woman". Fabulous postmodernist.

Jirka and Viktor and I went to 80s night last night. It was good, and good to see an old friend. Not good to see a guy who is pretty much a jerk, and especially not good how I felt myself react to it, but whatever.

urgh. I'm very near to making an appointment with a massuese. My neck and shoulders are quite sore, and the massage I had in Chile definitely helped. hmmmm....what to do. save my money for european travel, is what to do, fool!

ok. time to convince someone to go to the coffeehouse with me...hmmmm who will it be?
