Burn After Reading
Back to the movies again last night, after a very pleasant meal at Jah'z Cafe.
Burn After Reading is the latest from the Coen brothers, and the trailers make it out to be quite a funny movie. And it is, in a sort of dark humour kind of way. The plot is rather hard to explain - a lot of what happens is based on the characters - but it's not at all hard to follow. What makes this movie funny and entertaining isn't necessarily the storyline (which is kind of full of too many coincidences) but the actors and they way they make their characters believable and real but still incredibly quirky.
So let's rattle off the names, so you know who to look out for: John Malkovich, George Clooney, Frances McDormand, JK Simmons, Tilda Swinton - and Brad Pitt, who is drop dead hilarious as the over-enthusiastic personal trainer Chad.
Very fun film, if you're happy to put up with a lot of characters, a somewhat twisty plot, and a lot of swearing with the occasional bit of violence.
