Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

After a bit of a communication mixup last week, quuux and I managed to get down to Mitcham to see Sweeney Todd this week. (reverancepavane went last week). So is the actual opera / musical filmed ? I don't remeber that being that long (about 2 hours I seem to recall) Is the movie shorter ?

Movie is about 2 hours as well.

As I said, I'm not that familiar with the musical, so I don't know how much was cut/never filmed - apart from the signature title theme song, which isn't in the film. To me, it *felt* like the Antony/Johanna part of the story was somewhat reduced, but without knowing the source material, I can't say I know what was cut.

Then again, Anthony Stewart Head was in it for a single line, and that was all. And he has such a nice singing voice.... (I had heard he had a little more than that, but it was trimmed during editing)

That's a pity about the Theme song, it was one of my favourites form the musical. Mind you I counted and its 20 years since I've seen it, so maybe I should refresh my memory with this movie anyway.
