Spent the weekend up near Loxton on the river, doing some kneeboarding, waterskiing and biscuiting. Good fun, but boy am I gonna be sore tomorrow.
It has been quite some time since I have attempted being pulled along behind a speeding boat - biscuiting was 2 years ago at AV06, kneeboarding was at least 5 years ago, and skiing even longer. However, I knew my skills - i.e. that I could stand up on two skis, and kneeboarding wasn't my thing because I didn't have the strength to pull myself up onto the board in deep water.
However... this weekend has proven two things. I can't really waterski any more (managed to get up after four attempts for about 2 seconds before losing it) and that I can kneeboard and stay up for quite some time, until the bumpy waves get too big. My friend Morden who invited me this weekend has just bought a new boat and skis and kneeboards, and his kneeboards are pretty awesome as they have this little clip at the front which means weak people like me can use that to hold the handle and we can use our hands to pull ourselves up onto the board, rather than just relying on elbows and pure upper body strength (which I don't have much of).
So after that long run-on sentence, I can say I had fun on the boards, and fun lazing around, and my muscles are already aching, but it was hell worth it :)
A big thanks to Morden, RH and SS and family, who hosted our campsite and made sure there was about twice as much food as you can possibly consume available and forced upon us time after time :)
