A Walk in the Park

What better way to spend the long weekend than hiking? (Yes, that's a rhetorical question, and you're not supposed to suggest alternatives).

Today I led a day hike in Belair National Park with the Venturers - total of 7 of us went (adults included) and that's a good size walking party, especially getting up to meet at 9am on a chilly winter's morning.

We pretty much followed the circumference of the park, starting at the North West corner, heading all the way out East, then South, and curving around to the West, then North again. All in all we walked for about 5 hours, although that included a lot of breaks - for food, rest, and general mucking around from some of the group.

Despite the chilly weather, there was no rain and not much wind, so it was only extremites (like fingers) that got really cold, and we didn't need our jackets for most of the walk. The sun however, didn't come out, which was a pity, we needed something warming...

So afterwards, we headed to a cafe in Blackwood and had some coffees/hot chocolates and chips to heat up. Then it was home again (jiggety jig) and shower, dinner, and tonight's a relax night before work tomorrow.
