Long time No Update
I realize it's been over a month since we posted anything, which just goes to show that we've had a very busy, stressful few weeks over here at Casa del Mol and John (and Jake).
We're officially on spring break this week. This is meaningless in the sense that we both still have work to do, and can't spend the week lounging on the beach like everyone else in Los Angeles. It's meaningful in the sense that we don't have to go to school, don't have to teach, and don't have to report to anyone (though technically I should.
We've made some progress in planning the wedding. We decided on a venue and a date that we'd like. We've submitted our application -- yes, actually an application -- and are waiting to hear back from the Goleta Valley Historical Society. After looking into a lot of places in the Bay Area and Southern California, and getting very discouraged about how expensive everything is, we turned for advice to our friends Jim and Erin, who had a wonderful, calm, peaceful wedding just north of Santa Barbara on the grounds of the Stow House. And we thought about it. And thought and thought. And decided that we really liked the venue, that it was the right price, and that we should look into it.
Although I was sold on the Stow House grounds immediately, my anchor John convinced me to give it a few weeks, and so we have, and in the end, our gut reaction was the right one.
We're asking for Saturday, July 9th, 2005, and barring disaster, we should get it.
