What's good for the goose...

I had a weekend!
A real, honest to goodness weekend.
I thought it would be a good idea to arrange for Mom and Dad to pick up Benjamin on Thursday.
And it was. We had a quiet night of sleeping in, and the next morning I got up and proceeded to put together a to-do list for the weekend. And I stuck to it, for the most part.
Cleaned up some of the house.
Did laundry and all that jazz.
Jason came home and we ate before heading out to Booth's show.
He and his best friend Patrick put together "2 Guys, 1 Guitar, no standards."
And they ain't kidding. But the show was really funny.
It must have made them feel good to see a crowd, an actual sold-out crowd, at their show.
I saw Booth's girlfriend Suzanne, there and I saw Debra.
Now the three of us had been at their first attempt at this show in November. That's when I actually met these ladies.
I immediately gravitated to Debra because, well, she was the only other black chick in the room.
Oh, Lord. She is a trip and a half, honey.
After the show, we all went to hang out at a place across the street.
Half of the time, Debra and I were too loud for the room. At least, I thought so.
But we had a great time. Jason even cracked up Booth to the point where he couldn't breathe.
Which is always fun.
We got home around 2:30 in the morning and we slept in. Uninterrupted. *sigh*

Saturday was mostly spent getting ready for that night.
We got up, had brunch at a diner, and came home for some quiet time and preparation.
There was a party that we needed to attend.
The past few months have been a little stressful. This was the weekend to just relax.

So, Jason and I had a great time last night at Mike and Holly's Goose feast.
It had been a long, long while since we'd seen all of our friends for a get-together.
It was sort of a coming out party for Jason. He felt really good, seeing everyone and being "normal."

I had a really good time, too. Lots of adult conversation, that I peppered with baby anecdotes.
It's impossible to not talk about him.
I discussed religion with Clara. I brought him up as a perfect example of keeping some mystery in your life.
Don't ask me why, but it was relevant at the time. Or maybe I'd just had too much wine.
I discussed my upcoming playwriting work with Duncan, who completely understood my apprehension for all of this.
People (I mention no names) keep using the word "brilliant" to talk about my script and I'm not comfortable with that.
Duncan, immediately replied, "Well, of course not. Because you're the one who wrote it. I feel that way all of the time."

Oh, Thank GOD!
My paranoia is not always reasonable. All I ask is for a community, with which to share it.

I discussed marriage and relationships with Rachel & Holly. Well, truth be told, we talked about how we fight as couples.

At any rate, after picking at a buffet of great food, they presented the goose. The Last Goose of the year. No, really.
Apparently, there were none left in the tri-state area, besides the lonely little one on their plate in Union City. It was so Dickensian that way. So, we had little bites to make sure everyone got some. I am no longer a goose virgin.
Finally, around 10:30, we head home with Duncan and Tesse.
Once we got into the house, we proceeded to... stay up longer. I made myself some peppermint tea, sat down, drank, knitted and exhaled. I had to enjoy those moments since they don't come up often. To just be able to sit and breathe, without worrying about waking the little man. Then we collapsed.

After two nights of drinking, I went to church this morning. It was much needed.
Then I made cookies. Yay.
Then my baby came home. YAY!

And now, mama's back on the clock. And burning up much needed sleep time.
So, I'm done talking to you losers. Night.

marriage, theater, benjamin, parties, friends
