Well, as most of you already know from
king_duncan's journal, last night was a party to end all parties for the Avalon cast.
I suspected that last night would be an event in partying, but this was new levels, honey.
And there was a surprise for me at the end of it. Mind you, watching Jess strip on top of a bar, pretty surprising, but not like this.
I discovered that Erma, our fierce costume designer, lived in Jersey City. So I had someone to split the cost of the cab home. Because, hi, the PATH train at 3:00 am, ain't pleasant. I was not looking forward to an hour and a half of traveling home.
On the way home, I found out that Erma is a Jersey City native who works at George Street Playhouse. She lives on Grove Street. Mere BLOCKS from me. She went to Academic, I went to St. Al's Academy and we bonded over growing up around here. I told her about Jason and I met. I told her about doing Shakespeare in the Park and some of the worst places we ever played.
She told me all about how she did her college thesis on "Much Ado About Nothing." She said to me how she wasn't really crazy about the show until she saw a production of it before going to Rutgers to study. According to her, it was the best she'd ever seen. Performed by a group called Hudson Shakespeare in Van Vorst Park.
I assure you, no one was more shocked than me. Apparently, we had a such an impact on her, that she remembered the show years later and wrote her senior thesis on it.
To put it simply, WOW.
You can't get that anywhere else, man.
P.S. My apologies to
malphoof_speaks. I know we were to get together today to check out Babies with Rabies, but my body wasn't having it, dude. I woke up at 1 today. And I couldn't call you what with the lack of cell phone you have. How was it?
