In case you were wondering...
I haven't updated in quite a while, so here is what is going on in my life. I am in methods block (teachers teaching teacher candidates teaching techniques). It is pretty interesting at times, and sometimes I want to beat my head against my desk. One class in particular makes me want to end it all.
My dad had surgery a couple of days ago. They did a bowl resectioning or something like that to rid his colon of cancer. Basically, they took out part of his colon. I actually got to talk to him today. He said that the semi-colon is doing fine and he isn't as much of an ass as he used to be. Who doesn't love butt-surgery humor. Anyway, he is in good spirits. I'm pretty happy about that.
I really don't have anything interesting going on right now. I'm really poor at the moment. I didn't get paid on the first because I was out of town when time sheets were supposed to be signed. My next pay check will be nice, but until then I'm broke. I'll probably buy some new clothes when I have some cash. I'm looking pretty ragged.
I'm getting a student next week. I'll spend Thursday afternoons working with them on growing their literacy. I feel a little cheated. I know a lot about literacy in students and that is a good thing, but I'm going to be a math teacher. I have yet to take a class where I am taught how to plan for mathematics instruction. I have a mathematics methods class now, but its that class that makes me beat my head against the desk. Maybe I should take the reading language arts certification test. I bet I could pass it.
