It's Sunday night and I just got back from Sunset Junction, a great street fair in my part of the world. I love the community I live in. I live in Los Felix, which is the bourgeois end of the Silverlake/Echo Park area. I'm not so down with Los Felix. I'd rather live in Echo Park, but at least I'm still part of this area, which is where all my friends live and where I like going out. The junction was fun. There were lots of freaks and hipsters to look at. I got to hang out with a some of my friends.
Today was a great day. A bunch of the gang from Love's Child threw me a surprise party. I was completely surprised and blown away. It was so rad. There was a cotton candy machine and a snow cone machine. J was particularly taken with the cotton candy machine. He proceeded to have like 10 cotton candies. But more than anything else it was so sweet of so many people to come out and go to the effort of throwing me a surprise party. Nikki, Diego, Itzel, Jenny, Kelly, Krystal and Rapha did a skit of what it was like being in Love's Child with me. Nikki did an awesome job of playing me. It was really funny and moving. I thought that I was going to cry while they were doing the skit.
Over the past two weeks I've begun to realize how much I love the Love's Child gang. It's really hard to leave. I keep telling myself that I'll still be a part of the program, but I won't be running it anymore. The nice thing is that Justina, who's taking over, is really cool. I think she'll do a really amazing job. I looking forward to getting to know her better. That's such an adult thing, to look forward to getting to know someone, but it's true.
It's been a great weekend. Friday night my friend Adam, who's one of my best friends in the world, had his record release party. Only his records weren't done in time. But it was still really neat because all his family came out from the East Coast to celebrate.
Saturday we went to the beach with the Love's Child gang. It's kinda' like the scooby gang on Buffy. The beach was so much fun. It was the best time I've had at the beach all summer. It was really nice too, because J came. Now that I'll be a volunteer with Love's Child, I like the idea of J and I volunteering together.
Saturday night J and I went to the junction and then watched moveis at his house. We watched Manhattan, an old Woody Allen movie. It was so good. I loved it. It was about couples in Manhattan in the 70's. It was heartbreaking and romantic at the same time. It might be one of the best romantic comedies that I've ever seen. Woody Allen was so good in the 70's, but he kinda' blows now.
So that was my weekend. It was great. If anyone wants to e-mail me the e-mail address I'll be using from now on is mrysman@hotmail.com. Talk to you all soon.
