Ditto on S5's weird schizophrenia. Some really, truly lame-ass eps and some really awesome ones. Have you seen "Smile Time" yet? I couldn't decide which category that ep fell into, but either way it was a laugh riot. Definitely one of the crackier plots.
"The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco,"
My sister, husband and I after seeing this ep:
Care: Immortal. Mexican. Wrestler.
Me: I know.
Bill: Lamest episode ever?
Me and Care: Ever.
I found Eve vaguely sorta potentially interesting at the beginning of the season, but quickly decided that I kinda wanted her to go away and possibly die a horrible death. She was mildly intriguing as long as her good/bad alignment was ambiguous. After that she was mostly just annoying.
CORDY'S GONE!! WOE!! I loved "You're Welcome" and yeah, it totally made me wibble. I was sorry they had taken her character where they did in S4, so it was really, really nice to get her back as good old Cordy for and ep before having to say goodbye.
I think I like Lindsey better as the kind of not-good-not-all-bad guy. Again, with the ambiguous alignment (I must have some weird subconcious issues somewhere). Anyway, it was nice to have him back.
Spike-and-Angel banter is pure, joyous love. The end.
Since I hadn't seen much Buffy, only my sister knew who the heck Andrew was, but I decided after only one ep that I would like to keep him. The Anglophilia, the hilarious pronunciation of "Vampire," the pretensions that impress no one...pity they couldn't work him into the recurring cast. "He's alive, Frodo!" Heeee.
I always liked Harmony. Poor dear's not really cut out for vampirism, is she?
*chuckles in agreement on your conversation on "Numero Cinco"*
I do like the schizophrenic aspect of the season generally, though. Never know what you're going to get when you hit "play" on the next episode!
Re. Andrew: I hope by now you've seen the Andrew-centric episode "Storyteller" from "Buffy." It's beautiful and hilarious.
"He's alive, Frodo!" Y'know, it makes more sense that way, but the subtitles said "He's my Frodo." They could of course be wrong, as they have been in the past...
You know, I didn't even notice that your version of the quote and yours weren't the same. Hm. I heard "alive" which does make more sense, but...eh. Who knows. I could easily have mis-heard and the subtitles could just as easily be off. *shrug*
