Where are we in the Buffy-verse? Well, I'll tell you...
We have now met Faith, who
to tell you the truth, bugs me more, the more we see of her. Mind you, she did just kill a guy and try to pin it on Buffy, so possibly this is the lowest point of her character arc. Or maybe not. Shall see. Anyway, her "whassup, girlfriend; I shag guys and kill folks and I don't care" persona reminds me too much of annoying girls I knew in college (minus the killing of folks, possibly), so she'll have to work hard to win me over.
We have also just met Wesley, who
, on the other hand, I find adorable already. I think the Scooby Gang is way too hard on him. He's just doing his best. Also, I highly approve of his idea to send Faith to England and let the Council deal with her. Ahem.
And Spike's one reappearance so far was quite, quite amusing,
crying on everyone and retelling the story of Drusilla leaving him. Poor pathetic Spike. He picked up nicely at the end, though: "I'll tie her up and torture her until she likes me again." There's our guy!
On the whole, Season 3 was not enthralling me quite as much as Season 2, until the "Band Candy" episode, wherein
demonic chocolate makes all the adults act like teenagers. Hilarious--especially Giles! A.S. Head deserves a sweet little Emmy for that episode. (Also, the night after I saw that one, I dreamed I got to kiss him, just like Buffy's mom. It was awesome!) That also, I believe, was the episode that won over my husband, who was watching with me once in a while. The other night he finally said, "I admit, 'Buffy' is much better than I expected"--which, in his language, means, "Do not watch any more episodes without me." The cute blonde slayer stakes another victim!
