JS&MN, Sil notes, YouTube, Jarvis

1. Those who have read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell should come join the discussion at jedmiller's journal of who should be cast in the film version. Apparently the first draft of the script is done, and that's as far as it's gotten, so perhaps our voices will yet be heard! Well, we can dream.

2. Silmarillinotes: The tale of Eol (I'm not bothering with the diaeresis, formerly called an umlaut) and Aredhel reminds me of Hades and Persephone. Boy captures and marries girl, girl starts getting homesick and escapes, trouble ensues. Hades and Persephone didn't have kids, though. And considering how badly things go for Maeglin (Eol and Aredhel's son), maybe that's just as well. Cousin-lust, eh? My, my. Of course, in the Greek mythology, Hades is Persephone's uncle. And Persephone's parents are siblings. So, incest abounds in myth; what can we say? In other Sil notes, I'm in the middle of the tale of Beren and Luthien, and am loving it. This would definitely make an awesome movie.

3. YouTube videos: I have discovered, later than everyone else, as usual, that you can find just about any music video ever made on YouTube. What are some of your favorite videos? The ones that are the most fun to watch? You know, like A-ha's "Take On Me" or something? Because I bet you can find them there again.

4. One of the things I have been doing on YouTube is watching videos I've never, or hardly ever, seen, such as those by Pulp. Gals, or gay/bi men, who like skinny pale lads, should check out, say, the "Common People" video and tell me Jarvis Cocker isn't one sexy geek. Also, bluesound points out that Jarvis now has a MySpace journal, with a new song and everything. Sweet. Only, Jarv dear, you MUST come join us at LJ, and leave behind this MySpace silliness.
