I've been watching the extended editions, and you know what Middle-earth needs? Safety signage. They've got practically none. To quote Eowyn, "They had no warning!"
My husband first pointed this out, as the Fellowship's boats drifted toward the Argonath in FOTR. "Couldn't they have put up one little sign?" he asked. "Danger: Falls Ahead." Indeed. Imagine if you were just out for a pleasure cruise, and didn't know the terrain too well. Woops!
This would be great as a Photoshop Phriday challenge, but unfortunately I don't have the authority to propose those. I can just sit and grin as I daydream about what I would do if I had a lot more time to play with Photoshop.
In the Dead Marshes, a sign like the ones they have at Yellowstone: GROUND UNSTABLE - STAY ON PATH AT ALL TIMES
In Moria, a billboard like the "whale-wise" ones they have in Seattle: PRACTICE BALROG SAFETY - KEEP AT LEAST 500 YARDS FROM ANY DEMON
On the seventh level of Minas Tirith: NO RAILING - KEEP CHILDREN AND PETS AWAY FROM CLIFF EDGE
In the woods of Lothlorien: CAUTION - ARCHERY RANGE
In Fangorn Forest: BURN BAN IN EFFECT - DO NOT COLLECT FIREWOOD
Yeah, you get the idea.
