Cain and Molly had said little to each other over the course of the afternoon. It wasn’t exactly an awkward silence, but more that they were each lost in their own thoughts. So much had changed since Cain had lost his memory, and Molly was still reeling from everything that had happened to her over the last week

"Good morning, Molly."
He grins at her.
"How are you feeling?"
Reply
So much has happened lately. She feels like she's a couple of steps behind, and she wants to catch up.
Reply
"Talk to me. What do you mean?"
He watches her, eyes concerned.

"You know what it's like to lose something. That feeling that you get inside? Frustration that it's lost, and the need to find it, and then the relief when you finally do?"
Instead of holding his hand, she toys with his fingers in an absent sort of way, not really seeing them, but taking comfort from that that that they are there.
"Well, I've lost my parents. And I don't." She swallows hard against the lump that is suddenly in her throat. "I know that it's no use looking, so there can't be that feeling that you get when you find what was lost... and I'm not making any sense, am I?"
Reply
"You are making perfect sense, Molly. When someone experiences loss, they need to find closure, and you havent yet. Maybe partially we can get that for you by going back and getting your things and setting matters right."
he kisses her softly.
"Whatever I can do to help, I will."

She tried to fight back the tears, but a few escape while she struggles to get herself under control.
"Arthur is dead because of me."
Reply
"No, Molly. You can't blame yourself. It isnt your fault. He made his choices, just as you made yours. He was killed by evil men and evil magic, and it is not your fault."
He kisses her tears away and kisses her softly.
"And there is nothing to be ashamed of with being afraid. I am terrified."

She wipes at her eyes agitatedly. It sudden occurs to her that if Arthur hadn't been there, hadn't sent an owl asking her to meet him, she would most likely have been in the house when the Death Eaters had arrived. She would be dead now.
"And now the Death Eaters will be after me. After my brothers."
She can see why Cain is terrified now, too.

He hugs her again.
"And you and I will stand together. We can do anything together."
His voice firms into solid belief.
Reply
Her voice his small, and even though she appreciates his faith in her--in them as a team--this wasn't how she wanted him to see her world.
So many thoughts are chasing themselves around her head, that it's beginning to ache.
"We should be safe enough to go back just to pack up a few things. As long as we don't leave the house. I've made a short list of things I should take, but my mind just doesn't seem to want to..." She makes a vague gesture with her hands. She still feels sort of disconnected.

He snuggles her close again.
"We should go to your, ah, Diagon Alley, and get whatever magic ingredients you might need for magic, and go to your bank and close that out."
He smiles softly.
"We will be okay, Molly. We will. We faced a lot of stuff in my world, and we came out okay. And we will do the same on your world."
Reply
"I hadn't even thought about those sorts of things. I don't have much in my account, but I suppose it would be best to have it here, where I can have access to it more easily."
Honestly, she has been doing well supporting herself here, by working in the gardens. She hopes she still has a job when this is all said and done.
"Diagon Alley should be relatively safe...I don't think they'd be stupid enough to attack anyone in the middle of a crowded shopping district. Not with so many wanded witches and wizards around."
Reply
He hugs her.
"I mean what I said, though. You and I together, we can do anything."
Reply
Most wizards would have no comprehension of what a gun was, even if one was pointed at them.
"Thank you. I am going to need you. When do you think we should go? I'm worried about my brothers."

Molly sits up straighter, and uses the sleeve of her dressing gown to wipe at her eyes.
"That sounds like a good plan. You can use the Floo to get to Diagon Alley straight from my house."
She hopes that the Floo will work for a Muggle...
"But for now, how about some breakfast. Then maybe a walk outside?"
