Couple of Things on My (very small) Mind

Aug 15, 2008 16:04

Not much going on today. Family is coming in to stay with us for a couple of days. Joy.

I forgot how much I hate the sun. I mean, I run better at 5:30am in 30 degree weather than I do midday in 50 degree weather. It just saps not only my strength but also my motivation.

I love the Corrs. Very nostalgic. I got a new-for-me album (that's been out for a while, most likely) and I'm really liking it. Their lyrics might be considered lame but I almost NEVER listen to the actual words (just the musical effect the syllables have) and I never judge a piece by what's being said or the message behind it. Because of that, I can have favorite songs like the Who's "Doctor Jimmy", ect. Anyway, I love hybrid music. That is, I like music that combines seemingly non-complementary styles. Era and Trans-Siberian Orchestra are examples with their combination of classical and hard rock/metal combinations. The Corrs combine classical Celtic stuff with rock. I'm such a sucker for music like that. Sadly, not many people seem to dig the Corrs.  I remember in eigth grade the song "Breathless" came on the radio and so many people protested and wanted to change the station. My dad always says that that's a good sign. If the majority likes it, it kinda shows how simple and mindless something is (he puts it much more eloquently that I can). I think he may have a point.

One last (disturbing) thing: Tropic Thunder. The asshole producer, when I first saw him, I kinda thought, "You know, for a slightly overweight asshole, he kinda looks...hot." That thought vaguely disturbed me but I chalked it up to the intensity in his eyes and demeanor. And then I saw the credits. And wanted to puke. It was Tom Cruise. I really should have known that.

Please excuse me while I shoot myself.
