I listened to the most recent episode of WtNV (episode 60) on Friday while walking my dog and the oddest thing happened: literally 2 seconds before "Today's Proverb" was read, I sneezed. I don't have allergies and I'm not currently sick. I hardly ever sneeze. Oh, WtNV...

Anyway, speaking of WtNV, White Collar has taken over that obsession. I finished the series yesterday and literally teared up at the last episode. I hate endings at the best of time, but, jeez, I haven't had anything tug at my heartstrings that badly in a long time. To make matters even more embarrassing worse, I even looked ahead to see how it ended so I KNEW what was gonna happen. And it still hurts. So, to ease the pain, I did what any reasonable person with a huge neuro research paper looming over their head would do: I started the series over again.

Matt Bomer has one of the most beautifully expressive faces, which makes him an absolute joy to watch. And the script writers are genius: the little moments of banter or off-topic conversations between the main characters are adorable and really add a dimension to the story that is so often neglected in other series. I love the continuing inside jokes (which makes watching the series in order very much worth it). I love that Peter is NEVER an idiot and he ALWAYS catches on to Neal when Neal tries to pull one over on him and I love it even more that he lets things play out and ACT as if he's none the wiser (which also shows a lot about how good Time DeKay is at acting: to play a character who pretends to not know what's going on is probably not very easy). In short, USA continues to do an excellent job at portraying actual PEOPLE and their stories are made all the more compelling because of it.

I have this very minor urge that I'm doing a great job at so far supressing to revisit Psych because of how much I'm loving White Collar.

In other news, I had an interview last week and during it, the program director made us all go around and tell the group either our favorite novel or what we were currently reading. I said HHGttG. There were two other people who said something quasi-interesting (Dune and World War Z) but everyone else? Holy shit, why are people so boring? The guy next to me (whom I later made a conversation with that was interesting for the first two minutes and then quickly became quite physically painful in the dullness and the amount of effort I had to exert to keep it going so as not to seem too aloof--he is a prelim candidate with plans to go into neuro, so I really shouldn't have been surprised) literally said his favorite novel is The Shipping News. I was very glad to not have made any sounds of disgust because that probably wouldn't have gone over very well.

white collar, rotation: research elective, interview trail, novels, television, real life, med school, hitchhiker's guide, psych, fiction, welcome to night vale
