That test on Friday was probably the first test of med school in which I wasn't running on adrenaline: I felt exhausted from question one, and knowing that I had 104 questions after that didn't make matters any easier. I barely even bothered to check my answers, even though I felt like my answers involved pneumonia a worringly disproportionate amount.
But Powderpuff that afternoon was a bit of fun. We did these ridiculous "blocking" drills that were identical to really fun rugby drills minus the tackling. Also, we planned some plays in which I'm a second running back, so I get to RUN! The very last play, offense had to make 10 yards or do pushupss and burpies (10 each, as if that's punishment...) and I was wide open, though the quarterback threw it to to person behind me, who missed it. Our "coach" was like, "She was wide open!" and an Ultimate friend said, "Yeah, she'll always be wide open." I guess it's my thing now. Have a touch of claustrophobia makes it a bit more natural for me, though.
After that, I went home, showered, and suffered the 6 hour drive home (it normally takes only 4) due to the fact that I took a longer route to bypass our capitol and the main highway, when I eventually got to it, was full of rush hour traffic plus labor day weekend traffic plus construction along almost its whole length. The most amazing part was that I spent the entire 6 hours listening only to Jethro Tull songs and I still didn't make it halfway through all their songs that I have on my iPod.
When I finally reached home, I actually had a hilarious time with my sister, using her blood pressure cuff and sucking at it. My mom had a good time laughing at us. All good feelings ended, however, when she tried to go to bed and me and my brother were in the living room watching Abridged stuff. She was pretty pissy the rest of the time, but that's about par for the course. She also took the HDMI cable, as if it was her own and has it squirreled away at her apartment, so my brother and I had to watch Abridged stuff on my computer, so pissing her off was petty revenge.
I did grade my key and had to double check it when I noticed that NONE of the questions I missed were pathology questions. So, I got a 100 in path and ACES, and a 92-93 in pharm and ICS. I'm really not going to complain about any of this, especially since, right before the exam, I was bemoaning my lack of path knowledge to a friend.
The rest of my time at home was really relaxing. I only went running once, though, but I refuse to stress about it. I love the park there so much, even better than the one here. I also have completed my descent into nerdity by digging out old issues of Shonen Jump and reading through some of my favorite titles. The nostalgia I felt was pretty intense, and I also kinda relived how I viewed those titles at the time. And, since I bought a new pair of running shoes (after having mine for about 2 years now), I felt compelled to fill the empty shoe box with nerdy stuff, just like I've done with all my other shoe boxes. I I have about 3 issues of Shonen Jump and three volumes of One Piece fitted as neatly as if the box had been made for them.
But, as I said, once my sister left on Saturday morning, the house was really relaxing. I don't think I've ever really enjoyed a break as much as I did this one. My mom made some awesome dinners and I had a great time talking to my brother.
To avoid the traffic coming home, I left at about 5:30am and got back here at about 10:00. I decided, while driving, that today would be the perfect day to rob a bank because it seemed like every cop was taking part in a speed trap. Then I realized that no, the banks are closed today. Anyway, randomness aside, once I got in I took what has got to be the most epic nap I've ever taken. I slept in my bed for about two hours and then got up and dozed on the couch for another hour and a half. I'm going to hate myself when I try to go to bed tonight.
And right now, I'm watching Soul Eater and then I have plans to finally clean my apartment. Then, I'll probably go to the park for a run or rollerblade. I also really need to go grocery shopping.
But, I'd much, much rather be unproductively lazy.
