Insomnia

It's currently 4am and I can't sleep. It might have something to do with the fact that my mom likes to keep the house temp at 80. Or maybe it's the fact that I've been sleeping on the couch since I've arrived. Who knows.

Nothing major has happened. I've been plagued by annoyance from my sister, who is one of the most selfish person I've ever met. For example, I got up early on Tuesday so I could get a run in before I had to drive her to a BLS training. Then, I waited around the house for a couple of hours before I had to pick her up. I arrived at the place about 5 minutes early, then waited 30 extra minutes in my car for her to get out*. All the while, I made sure to stay pleasant, etc. So when I asked her yesterday if she would go grocery shopping with me, she said, "You're the one who volunteered to do it," and swanned out the door.

She also gets the room all to herself, and I have not said one word in argument. It's been decked out with all her stuff (well, all her stuff that's not littered in the bathroom) and includes a TV. We have a cable that allows a person to plug their computer into a TV screen, and she's taken to squirreling that in her room so she can watch TV on a screen roughly equivalent in size to her own fucking laptop. I asked her one night if I could use the cord, and she said, no. Then I told her she could watch what she was watching on her laptop, and she said that I could do the same. I was pissed, but her logic was reasonable, so I went to do just that. However, when I use my laptop on the couch, I generally don't use it plugged in because the outlet/power cord length is not conducive to comfort. And I can't sprawl out with a laptop like she can on her queen sized bed whilst on a rather uncomfortable couch. And even if this weren't the case, she has an entire fucking room to herself while I've got to sleep every night on something the width of roughly a strand of spaghetti. And I've done so with no complaints. So, yeah. At the very least, let me have the fucking cord. However, my brother joined me for TV watching, so I got to use that logic to wrench it from her.

I wonder if she realizes just how selfish she is.

In other topics, I've been watching Mad Dogs. I'm really enjoying it. It's definitely one of the most suspenseful works of fiction I've ever seen. And Philip Glenister has that British acting ability that allows him to act as quite a range of characters. I have two episodes of series 2 left to watch.

A friend and I are going off-road biking today. I hope we don't die.

Oh! Speaking of dying, I got my letter I wrote to myself for English extra credit five years ago. My first line thanked myself for not dying. I really didn't have much to say other than a few predictions (such as Hilary Clinton winning the 2008 election) and a list of my then-current fictional interests (which are much inline with my current interests; it's funny how little people change). I did make a rather amusing note that Sanzo vs Ukoku would be the most epic potential battle ever. Which, I think, turned out to be false. I was a bit underwhelmed with how it panned out...

*When I told my brother this, he said that, when she went to pick him up from his job, he once texted her that he had one thing left to do and would be out in 5 minutes, she just drove off. She's also made him wait in excess of 30 minutes when he used to pick her up from her job.
