Excuse me, Jesus Christ, but I'm going to more or less ignore Christmas in this post.

It was fantastic. I think he was more than a little :O at the sheer number and variety of people who were there, but I think he had at least a little fun and has now experienced one of the more insane breeds of Thayer/Nelson family shindigs, and so has very little else to fear. I probably should have warned him about that, though. Anyway, it was fantastic... as I already said... kay.

First, my brothers et sister-in-law came over and we had our Christmas, because... we hadn't... had... it... yet... which was good. It's always good. My sister-in-law Cyndy is SO PREGNANT--so pregnant. She's due in a MONTH. My whole family is insanely excited. (And my brother recently attended diapering class. I think that's funny.) But yes. Babies. Mmmhmm. Then I checked the time and realized we were half and hour late to go get Brad, and he had called to ask what was going on, which I felt mildly terrible about because I'd had a bit of a spaz about HIM being late and not calling about it about 24 hours previously. Great job, ya hypocrite.

Anyway, we all ended up at my aunt and uncle's house... SO MANY INTRODUCTIONS, holy crap... A guy was there who is in some convoluted (dictionary.com is being no help in telling me whether or not I am using that word right) way related to my brothers and had gone to school with my aunt. I never actually spoke to that man. I missed being introduced and so we just didn't talk to each other. That was kind of odd. He had lived in Japan for a number of years and had just moved back here with his wife and daughter, who both spoke four months' worth of English. We talked about weather (here and there), cats, fish, school, skiing, and soccer. I enjoyed that greatly.

For dinner I ended up at the end of the table sitting next to Brad on one side and on the other, a boy who I have not had a conversation with in about four years. Uncomfortable Silence Boy is a year younger than me and has a brother a year older than me. We were all great pals at these sorts of family things up until I was about twelve, at which point we no longer had anything in common. (All we ever really had in common was a sort of odd enjoyment in throwing these small dolls down the stairs at my grandpa's house. We would say they were visiting the Grand Canyon and were having "accidents." I'm glad we got our murderous tendencies out early.) So here we are, marooned at this end of the table for a whole dinner... FAN. TASTIC. But at some point I said something and the three of us actually had a conversation. Which was great.

Brad sure put up with a lot, though. The whole thing is so normal for me that it's hard to imagine what he must've thought of all of it.

Just as we were leaving, my cousin's girlfriend comes up to me and whispers, "It's so cool to see your boyfriend and we had a little girly giggly moment.

The End.

Oh yeah, we also had to walk up and down this great big hill from the house. I don't think Brad expected that. There were dogs barking at us and things. Kinda funky, fuinky.

Augh, exhausted after typing all that. I'm sure it's way longer than it needs to be but, well, yes. It is. Anyway, I have mas to say but I'll save it for later... yep.

Oh, also have sinus infection. Also also have weird nasal saline rinse thing. Weird. Very weird person must have thought of that.
