Gymnastics

Have you ever seen gymnastics flying through the air tumbling everywhere, landing their trick? Some people when they see gymnastics think one thing, strength.  Gymnastics isn’t only about being physically strong but also mentally and emotionally fit.  To start, gymnastics takes great strength in every muscle in your body including your abs, arms, legs, ankles and shoulders.  Without muscular strength you couldn’t perform at your peak performance but by using every muscle that also means your heart and mind.  To my next point, mentally, gymnastics is very straining.  To tell yourself that tumbling on a four inch wide beam four feet above the ground is okay, is very hard.  You need to be able to memorize routines flawlessly while reminding yourself when your body needs to do the next trick.  Lastly, it requires emotional strength. When you get up on your event you need to keep the emotions in or they will run high.  When your team loses by a tenth of a point it’s important to keep it together. Also, when a meet or practice isn’t going your way or a teammate is being rude that day, you have to just blow it off which can be hard.  All in all, next time you see gymnasts practicing they don’t have only muscular strength but mental and emotional which is just as important.  The skills you learn in gymnastics are every you always need to be physical mentally and emotionally fit.

Shortened Class Periods

Have you ever been sitting in an extensive class period watching the seconds slowly go by, thinking why do they make these classes so long? I think every person young and old has gone through this and it’s a very hard way to go through school because students just aren’t interested.  Personally, I think that our school makes the classes too long, which doesn’t give us enough time to take more classes. By shortening classes you can keep kids interested by shortening class times, switch things up every hour which would keep students interested, and gain more credits which can help for graduation.

Besides switching things up every hour and getting more credits you can keep kids fascinated for a longer period of time.  By shortening class time, maybe students wouldn’t mind the class so much because it is less time sitting in a long class and normally students are interested the first half hour and then start to zone out. If you keep kids in classes for long periods of time they lose all interest in the subject.

Next, by shortening classes we can add more classes into believe our day.  By doing that we can switch things up every hour and keep kids wanting to go to the next class instead of dreading it.

Third, when you have more classes, that means you have more credits.  If the students who come to school regularly have the option to take more of the classes they can earn credits which could go towards an early graduation.

In conclusion, a shorter day could have many benefits.  Who wouldn’t want kids to be successful while staying interested. That is what I believe shortened class periods could do for our school.  Maybe someone could mention this idea to administration and we could start a whole new system at school.
