Moving right along

We were in Madison taking care of business on Friday, and we actually got a decent amount done.

First, we finalized details with the Masonic Center and paid our 50% catering deposit (ouch).  We also found out we have to rent a P.A. system, which is kind of annoying, but whatever.   And, we were able to take a bunch of pictures, so now I have a much better idea in my head of how everything will look (pictures are here if anyone's interested).

We also picked up our marriage license, which was kind of hilarious.  We had to raise our right hands and swear that everything we were about to tell them was true.   We had to tell them we weren't related.  We had to pay them $115 in CASH, no checks, debit cards, credit cards, CASH only.  Apparently we're worthy, since everything went fine, so we now have Wisconsin's permission to get married.

After a celebratory lunch at the Great Dane (which has added the Most Delicious Grilled Cheese Sandwich Ever to its menu), we stopped by Paul's old workplace to visit with his co-workers, picked up my ring from Goodman's, picked up Paul's suit from Jazzman, and had a few drinks with friends at Brats before heading to Milwaukee for the night.

Bugs in Wisconsin are totally ridiculous this year -- I have never in my life seen a grosser windshield than ours was when we got to Milwaukee.  There were literally clouds of mosquitoes hovering near the highway ... gross!  We took the car for a wash yesterday before heading back to Chicago, and the car wash guy not only loudly pointed out how that was the most bugged-up car he'd seen, but also called over several of his co-workers to marvel at it.

So, the wedding is officially less than a month away.  Could it just be tomorrow, please?  I am SO tired of planning this thing ... I swear, the stupid little last-minute details are going to be the end of me.  I'll be so happy when it's finally here!
