Thanks and such
I've been writing this story my entire adult life - just ask any of my betas. I had a complete draft before I ever signed up for Big Bang, but this story? Is not quite that one. A lot of the themes are the same, and some of the details, but the rewrites have been many and epic on the way from where I started to where I ended up.
I've had the help of some amazing people: dorinda, who was the first to tell me very kindly and gently that my first draft possibly made no sense, and talked me through about fifty possible solutions; destina, who told me to cut out a third of the story and kindly refrain from making Jensen look like an asshole (and to put in some CARROTS. I hope you're happy, lady =D <3 !) and who was right about all of those things; laurificus, who has been so involved in this story since the beginning she should get a co-author credit instead of beta thanks, and who has pulled me back from the brink of utter, bitter neurosis far more times than I can count; and terrio, whose fine-toothed comb has caught about a billion little problems I never would have seen no matter how long I looked at them. I hesitate to just call them beta readers -- probably "story surgeon" is a more accurate description of what these people have done for me over the past few months. I love you guys, and seriously, seriously: THANK YOU.
I also owe some thanks to the email loop of calm rational advice and pornification, which kept me going through several panic attacks and generated at least one sex scene I wouldn't have put in otherwise.
And a special mention for my room mate, therienne, who made the ultimate sacrifice of reading RPS for guys she doesn't even care about, and who did way more than her share of the dishes in the service of me finishing this story. <3
About the Artwork
I have felt deliriously lucky ever since lamapan showed me her first sketch. Not only is she an amazing artist, not only did her vision for the illustrations match mine pretty much perfectly -- she was also an absolute dream to work with. I'm madly, madly in love with the art she created for this story, and I very much hope you'll take some time to look at the art post and tell her how awesome she is. I can't say enough good things -- just go and see, you'll be so, so sorry if you don't.
Storyish things
This is my first major J2 story; I've posted a couple of little things, but this is where my heart has been. There's more J2 to come; it's been fun, and I kind of love them.
I've been living with this story for so long, I don't know really what to say about it, except that it's kind of about getting your life back when you thought you'd lost it, and kind of about angst and baking porn and banter. :) I hope you guys like it; if you do, I'd love to hear from you. If you don't, I'm happy to hear from you anyway. Anon commenting is always allowed here, and IP logging is always off.
