Fun stuff is coming...!

I'm really looking forward to:

1) salt_burn_porn, and it hurts me to share the sign up date
because only 50 people will make it in and I WANT IN, but it's Jan 6.

2) SPN big bang, for which sign-ups are wide open and start on Jan
10! I have a personal grudge against SPN big bang -- not the challenge or
the mods, don't get me wrong! But for the past three years this challenge
has been like a football that Lucy is holding out, SMIRKING AT ME. And I
run and run and run... and at the very last minute, LIFE yanks away my
ability to participate. Every year I sign up, and every year when it comes
time to confirm, I have to opt out again. THIS ENDS NOW. Because this year,
I have written over half a draft PREEMPTIVELY. And I also have a
finished-draft backup story, in case THAT draft isn't ready in time.
Seriously, you guys have no idea of the word count I am sitting on top of,
WAITING. BIDING MY TIME! =D This is my year, SPN big bang! *shakes
tiny fist*

3) Some of you may not have heard, but soon SPN IS COMING BACK TO MY TV.
And you know what else? SAM. SAM is coming back to my tv! Sam
Winchester, now with added soul-having! When last we saw him, Sam's soul
was being forcibly, nonconsensually stuffed back inside its incredibly hot
packaging. ALL IS WELL IN MY WORLD. Sadly, it looked like it hurt. I feel
a bit bad for RoboSam, because he really wanted to survive, but there is a
way to look at it in which he never really existed - he was a set of routine
programs with no oversight, left running while the SuperUser was out of the
office. I kind of hope that some of him lingers -- the lack of verbal
filter was HILARIOUS and insofar as it represented the things Soul-having
Sam thinks but does not say, I adored it. Still, the important thing is
that Sam is back and maybe there is an itchy wall in his head, but he's
BACK, and Dean is there, and they are together. And really, there is not a
lot more that I need from these two. (Ok, an actual real hug would be
nice. I'm just saying.)

(Apologies for the lack of coherence in #3. I could try to blame it on low
blood sugar, but really... when am I ever particularly coherent about this
show?)

Anyway, while I wait for those things, I've been doing some hiatus-dabbling
in Sherlock (BBC), and it's a lovely place to vacation. It took me a while
to get used to the actor's face (Sherlock), because he looked weirdly
familiar to me even though I knew I'd never laid eyes on him; and a while to
get used to the actor's face (John) because somehow, my brain kept wanting
to resolve it into that of John Simm. And then I'd see him again, and it
didn't work. But now, I'm fully on board with both, and while I'm not
entirely sure why John didn't kill Sherlock in his sleep sometime during the
early part of the third episode, I'm extremely happy with the way it worked
out. And I can't wait for the new series, which my BBC spy luzdeestrellas has told me is happening a) in June, b) in August, c) in September, and finally d) possibly sometime in Autumn. (Clearly she has
a brilliant career ahead of her in BBC Television Event scheduling. She'll
fit RIGHT IN.) Regardless, whenever it comes back? I'm looking forward to
that.

And that's my list. I've made it through the holidays with only a few
scrapes and bruises, and now I'm ready for Hiatus to be over and fandom and
TV to come back again. (Ok, fandom never left. But TV has been sadly
lacking!) On an administrative-ish note,I have a few things I'm going to
post soon -- my Yuletide story, for one, which I keep meaning to link to
(and respond to comments on), and a little thing SPN thing I wrote for luzdeestrellas to cheer her up when she was sick. But these are things I can't do via email post from work, so they'll have to wait till
later. :)

I hope you guys all had great non-denominational mid-winter/midsummer
holidays, breaks, vacations, catastrophic snowstorms, or regular work weeks
- whatever may apply. =D
