I like the idea of incorporating more dance and games. I haven't played chess in forever, but would like to again.
I wonder if part of the reason that has fallen by the wayside is that events are so packed full of stuff to do that there's less time for sitting around learning games. I know I did more game-playing when I was less active, to give me something to do at events. Now that I'm doing a bunch of fighting and other activities, I don't do it as much.
And events that aren't camping events don't lend themselves as well to dancing after feast, because the event staff would like to get the place cleaned up and go home before midnight. But if it's a priority, there will be ways to make it happen. Maybe a feast that starts earlier or has one less remove. Maybe court happening earlier so that dancing comes *between* court and feast.
