Job Title: Designer
Job Purpose: Under the direction of the Director of Design, and in partnership with peers, research ideas, concepts, colors and trends that achieve overall product strategy and customer objectives and in turn create product and packaging designs that take into consideration each step of the product's development.
Reports To: Director of Design
The ideal candidate will be naturally creative, possess strong project management, organizational, verbal and written communication and computer skills and be detail oriented. Candidates should be team oriented, have good customer service and people skills, and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. We are looking for a team member that excels when contributing to a changing, growing, and improving team and company.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal departments to design packaging and products that take into consideration the needs of the customer
- Contribute to the overall development and work with the design team to ensure all product deadlines are met
- Research ideas, concepts, colors and trends that achieve overall product strategy and customer objectives
- Assist in the development of product and seasonal trends, directions, themes, concepts, color, fabric, and styling and/or form function
- Create product and packaging designs that take into consideration each step of the product's development
- Create technical product specifications and clearly communicate them to international and domestic suppliers
- Conduct timely sample evaluations and ensure approval of all products meet the specifications, quality and expectations of the customer
- Stay abreast of market trends through regular competitive shopping and other resources to identify recurring trends in order to ensure we are developing product to support our customer’s merchandising strategies
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications or similar field preferred
- 1-3 years related experience a plus
- Self motivated with good problem resolution and decision making skills
- Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills
- Must be creative, professional, organized, detail oriented and possess the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, Photoshop and Illustrator in a MAC environment
