So, the Dresden Dolls do interesting covers. Who'dve thought that a mime on drums and a tarte on keyboards could so affectivly pull off:
Black Sabbath's War Pigs
T-Rex's Cosmic Dancer
and
Jeff Buckley's version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.
And they all actually worked really well. They could be a professional cover band.
No, all in all, it was a good show, I especially liked.. Oh, I don't know what they were called, one of them had her chanting 'see jack run' and the other I really liked was slow and was sort of about being useless.
The opening acts were all actually insane. The first guy: if any of you have seen Rent yet... he is Maureen, in male form. That kind of nutcase performance art. Then there was street-performing, banging rakes on rubbish tins etc, and then there was a sort of cross-between a german Oom-Pah band and a Mexican Mariachi band, with a French piano accordian and some French lyrics. Then there was the silk dancer - which, for those who've never seen a Cirque Du Soleil, are people who climb a silk curtain and tie it in knots around themselves, and do aerial acrobatics dangling from the ceiling. That was quite stunning actually, I got some lovely pictures, but I did think her tits were going to fall out of her bra when she turned upside down.
