I'm apparently invisible and unimportant

Mar 27, 2008 20:37

So. I did everything right. I made my appointment for May 27th at 5:00pm. Showed up 10 minutes before. I was informed my advisor was running behind...so I waited in the lounge. I didn't feel well. Nauseous and hot and sweaty. So I waited in the lounge with all the bugs flying around. I tried to get some studying done( I have a test and two quizzes tomorrow). There were some people in the hallway, who I assumed had appointments(but they probably didn't...now that I think of it). I heard his secretary tell him he had someone(me) in the lounge waiting for him too. He said okay and proceeded to meet with people in his office (10-20 minutes each). Half an hour later, I'm still there. 45 minutes: I'm still there. At 6:00, his secretary comes into the lounge and notices I'm still there. She goes to remind him that I'm waiting but he's meeting with someone. At 6:05 , he's available and his secretary reminds him of my presence, he comes into the lounge...says hello. I gather all my stuff and proceed into the hallway and find him gone ( I hear his voice...I assume he is talking to some graduate students)...I wait in the hallway for a slow two minutes..His secretary comes out and looks around for him....I point to the doorway through which he disappeared. She shakes her head and walks back into her office. He finally emerges. We head into his office.
Him-  I know I've seen you before....Remind me of your name again?
   Me-     Molespeople.
   Him-  What year are you?
   Me-    3rd, I guess
Him-  How far along are you in the program>
Me-- * pauses and then recites classes tentatively*
Him- Okay. What do want to take?
   Me-- *recites*
Him- Okay...Have you heard about this as well......are you interested?. Well then, that should do it.
 Exit office.
Enter Secretary's office.
Cleared for registration...After facing the prospect of 15 hours plus having to do extra work for to get another class..I tentatively asked if I could take 12 hours...and he said that was fine.
He moves to exit the small office. I have to exit the small office so he can get out.
He leaves.
I go back in.
The Secretary informs me that I should speak up whenever I don't want to do something or I want to do something.

I wish it was that easy (for me).

Waiting for meeting: 1hr 5 minutes
Meeting: 5 minutes
Wasting time when you've got work to do: Priceless

waiting, loser, whining, stupid
