There is something that makes me so excited about the beginning of a new semester at school. I don't know what excites me the most. Is it the new teachers? The new books I buy and the new smell that comes along with them? The anticipation of learning all kinds of new things that will expand my mind? I'm sure it's a bit off all of these. But the first few days are my favorite. I love opening my notebook and writing the title of the class and the teachers name (not that i'll even be organized enough to use that same notebook through the entire semester...though I'm going to try to discipline myself and be more organized this year). I love seeing old friends refreshed by the recent break. I love sitting down in a classroom and looking at so many faces I have never seen before. I try to figure out what their personalities are before they open their mouth (perhaps that's quite judgemental, but it's just for fun, I try not to let a first glimpse ruin my first complete impression). I love to listen to people voices too. New ones, new voices, that I haven't heard before.
While I was driving to Commerce tonight (I left at 10:30 pm) i figured out a few reasons why I like driving at night.
Down country roads it is especially lovely to drive during the night becuase if you look in you side mirros or rearview mirrors, at most you can only see speaks of light that dot the background. Sometimes the mirrors are completely black, and when you look into them just for a minute and not at the well light road before you, you feel like you are moving fast into nowhere.
I think that it seems as though you are driving faster at night, maybe becuase you can't see way into the distance and so it doesn't seem like forever to get there, you're just flying through the dark.
It's peaceful.
There aren't as many people on the road.......that means there aren't as many slowpokes on the road.
I love having my brights on so that as soon as a car comes up over the hill and headed towards me I can click my brights off. Then as soon as they pass me, I can click them back on. Don't ask me why, but I find pleasure in doing that. Maybe because when a driver does that it show that he is paying attention????
BAD THING ABOUT DRIVING AT NIGHT....you can't see cops in the distance.
