I called home this morning and talked to my parents (mostly mom) for an hour. Got an earful of the ole family drama and whatever else is going on.
My mom said she has been unable to buy 100 percent cranberry juice which my grandmother needs. My grandmother is dependent on catheters and as you probably know cranberry juice is good for urinary tract health. But it's become impossible to find it unless it's mixed with other juices.
My mom is also unable to get her hands on peanut butter. I am shocked, really. She said not even Meijer brand (which is a local Michigan supermarket chain, which is usually much cheaper than name brand). I know lately she's been eating that "natural" peanut butter which is different, so maybe she was referring to that? But if you cannot even get regular peanut butter in the US these days, what is the world coming to?
Are there food shortages going on in the states?
Sometimes I feel lucky indeed to be living far away.
