I learned the names of more people at church. I am really bad with names so I am trying harder now.
I bought a Nintendo DS and the game Tomodachi Collection. I have made Miis of myself and lots of people I know in addition to Naruto and Buzz Lightyear.... It is an addicting game. I got it because I have wanted a DS for over a year now and it seemed like the time to buy it. The kids at church were really into the game and it looked fun so I decided to buy it, plus it was on sale.... seemed like a sign. 2 of the characters got married the day after I started playing it, which I think is the end goal of the game..... looks like I already won?! But it's still entertaining and good for my Japanese. It has lots of kanji and new words.
I watched Avatar... I would give it a B rating because the art was fantastic but the plot was really obvious (and seemingly done a million times before) and the main "villain" character was so incredibly flat. No character development for him at all. Other than that, it was quite an entertaining watch and it made me feel very angry about the greed in the world these days.
My mom mailed me the ingredients for making pizzas. She sent me mini crusts, sauce, pepperoni, and real bacon bits. I have eaten 2 and there is one left. Sooooooooooooooooooo delicious.
I met 3 random guys on my train on New Year's Eve. 2 were college guys from California who are studying in Mito, and the 3rd guy was a Japanese guy from Koriyama who was taking them up to show them around.
After church on New Year's Day (special service), I found myself in the ATI building.... there was a special sale at the used clothing store where you could buy a big bag for a little over 5000 yen (fifty or so dollars US) and fit all the clothes in it you wanted.... as long as they fit in the bag you could get them. So I bought the bag and went through the store looking for clothes I liked. Because it is used it's not always perfect condition but they carry US sizes so the clothes are more likely to fit me. Unfortunately I didn't try anything on before I bought it and a few things are too small for me. But I was able to fit 30 things in the bag. THIRTY. 10 skirts, 6 camisoles/tank tops, 12 shirts, one pair of pants, and some overalls. It was quite impressive. I added up the total cost of the price tags and it was 54,650 yen. I paid I think it was 5,250 yen. So I got everything for less than 10% of the retail cost. So I'm not that upset that a few of the things I got ended up being to small for me. I might see if anyone I know is interested in them around here.
And!!!! I randomly ran into the same 3 guys again at the clothing store that I had met on the train the day before. It was interesting. And they remembered my name haha.
Oh, on the 30th, I went to asachu's school nurse's house. She had invited me over to make mochi but they were already finished by the time I got there because the baachan had wanted to start early. But it was ok and we ate the mochi and then played badminton... I ended up staying there all day. They later fed me cheesecake and I played the piano for them.... Her son is a 6th grader and her daughter is 23 years old and lives in Tokyo but was home for the holidays. We all sat at the kitchen table and I made snowflakes while the boy made origami and the girl played Taiko no Tatsujin on her brother's PSP. Then he got started on making an origami pineapple so the 3 of us pooled our efforts. Later another girl joined us, I never found out who she was, but we all made the pineapple together. It took over 60 pieces of paper to make it so it was rather tiring but we finished. And then we had delicious dinner!! I was really glad I had gone and I hope to go visit them again... they live about 40 minutes south of here so I don't know how often they would invite me over but I told them I would like to make them dinner sometime.
