oh yeah, Christmas lessons.... last minute brain-storming

You'd think I would have figured out by now what I was going to teach for Christmas this year..... especially since I have to start doing it TOMORROW. I may show them the Charlie Brown Christmas special.... which is 25 minutes, but there isn't too much dialogue, and I can always translate for them on the spot (most of it is pretty easy or I can approximate it until the very end when Linus starts quoting the Bible)..... what do you think? (Keep in mind that Japanese people love cute things and EVERYONE knows who Snoopy is but I doubt they have seen an English cartoon of it.) I really like that video because it talks about how the true meaning of Christmas is not presents, decorations, or Santa, which is what Japanese people seem to focus on when they think about Christmas. Class is 45 minutes so I would still have time to maybe make snowflakes with them. I'm talking about 4th graders here so they might not mind sitting and watching a video. I think I don't want to try it with the younger kids but maybe I will ask the 4th graders and their teachers what they think first, just in case. Who knows. I also have a 7 minute short Disney one with Pluto chasing Chip and Dale which is really cute that I'm sure even younger kids would like. Maybe I can bring both. I did want to do different crafts than last year but I have been so swamped and uninspired I never came up with anything new :( so I might just do snowflakes again. Boooo.
