So yeah... I think I will probably always drink "girly" coffee. The coffee here is not helping because Japanese coffee tastes like crap and I can't drink it without sugar and cream. Like even WITH sugar and cream it's hard to drink it. Apparently I will always be one of those people who drinks flavored coffee and mochas and frappucinos because black coffee is just disgusting. Maybe it's because I don't like bitter tasting things.
So when I came to Japan I brought some coffee with me as gifts for people before I realized that NOBODY IN JAPAN HAS THEIR OWN COFFEE MACHINE and ALL THEY DRINK IS INSTANT COFFEE. They also use instant creamer for the most part. Maybe that's why it tastes so bad. (Lol the powdered creamer is called "creap" which always makes me think of the word "creep".)
Anyway I did give a bag away before I realized nobody had their own coffee machine, but that left me with 3 bags of coffee. And I don't have a coffee machine, either. But I did buy some teabags for unbagged tea and they work pretty good for ground coffee. I have discovered a way to drink it that is pretty good: microwaving 1/2 cup of water on "milk" setting, steeping the coffee, filling the rest cup up with milk, and then adding honey or chocolate syrup. I put cinnamon on top today. It is made of win and not gross like Japanese coffee. Let's face it, the only coffee I can drink in Japan without cringing is Starbucks, and that is sad on so many levels.
I am probably going to Starbucks tomorrow or on Sunday, whenever I go to Koriyama again to get the guitar.
I have been thinking about coffee more because I read
Questionable Content and because I still toy with the idea of trying to work at or own a coffeehouse in the future.
