Without even looking up from his book, Kakashi answered, “Oh? What is it?” Because it couldn’t be as tragic as this.
“I have cheated on one of our challenges!”
… What? Kakashi snapped his book shut and gave Gai his full attention (even though Kakashi was pretty sure that Gai wasn’t even paying attention. Seriously, the one time he’s actually interested in whatever crap he’s trying to challenge him to and he doesn’t even pay attention! Really. The nerve of some shinobi) “I have failed you in our trust of friendship! I have-”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Brought dishonor upon your house, upon your family and your cow, Gai, I get it. So, how did you cheat?” He wasn’t interested. No, he didn’t really care if one of the challenges he lost to Gai cheated on.
“I may or may not have paid her off.” Well, that explained a lot.
That dirty cheater! “Hm.” he hummed, seemingly unaffected but silently betrayed that their referee was bribed. He would have to have a word with her as soon as Kakashi figured out a way to get Gai to stop begging for forgiveness. “Gai. It’s fine. Now, if you’ll excuse me,” and then he stalked away to find Sakura - his evil student.
