REVENGE!

Oct 12, 2007 00:39

There are a relatively small number of things you expect to find in the record sleeve of an LP by German house/hip-hop pioneers Snap! A Snap! record is perhaps number one on that list; maybe a till receipt or a bit of fluff would also be commonplace. Towards the bottom of that list would be a short essay on revenge by a nine year old with a creative approach to language and a frankly worrying past. Imagine my surprise then when sorting through some donated records at work . . .

Like all great essays it begins by quoting Duran Duran. It also reminded me of the beginning of Funnybones ('In a dark dark street' etc.). Was this an intentionaly ironic subversion of the genre of 'childrens fiction' by the author? What is a Morrison shelter? So many questions.
