I love Renee Olstead's voice. She doesn't sound like a 15-year-old at all. The fact that she sings Big Band/Jazz makes her kinda special compared to all the Britneys of the world. She's so pretty and so talented. Green eyes + Red Hair... I always think people with red hair look exceptionally pale.
Everyone's so caught up in doing their own things. It's like life has stopped for us to study and study more. I really need to mug harder, then it's home free on the 19th. Earlier LJ friends will remember the curse of my birthday. I hope the Os isn't it this year. *crosses fingers* Gah maybe I'm just paranoid.
I recently watched Pocahontas(rewatched since it came out in the movies) and Pocahontas II(watched for the first time). Pocahontas was as alluring as ever, and I was so enamoured by the spirit of Pocahontas, the culture of the Native Americans and the scenery. I remember reading Pocahontas-related arguments and discussions and the Native Americans were saying that it undermined the real Pocahontas and what she wasn't wearing anything when she met John Smith and she was just merely 14 then. Well it is a kids movie so you don't expect them to put a naked Pocahontas yeah? I agree that "savages", "heathen" and "hellish-red skin" - these words are insulting, but that's how they really felt, and it's fair to show the truth. It's not like Pocahontas didn't more than assure you there's more to the eye than the tribal dances, nature and the world. It felt so zen and I felt really at peace watching it. Well, other than the "diggety dig" part where they cut down trees and the parts where they shot the Native Americans.
I feel like a little girl of eight.
Pocahontas 2 was horrible. I can't believe Pocahontas(as in the Cartoon one) would be so fickle and forget John Smith so fast. What happened to all the "I love you"s and "Forever"s? If you can't even show us faithfulness in the movies, what more people in reality? The divorce rate is rising, you say? Not surprising. People lose faith, in God, in life, in love - especially after 911.
I really like 13 going on 30. Yes, that coming from me, the chick-flick hater. All along I've wanted to be like Jenna - rich, successful (and having a huge closet), but not at the expense of family and morality. It really is an overdone plot, cliche and whathaveyougot since it was done quite a few years back(I mean the script, which is obvious because most songs in the show are from the early '80s instead of the late
'80s) but you can empathise with it so much. Of course, Jennifer Garner is gorgeous and I love Billy Joel's Vienna and Luce's Pretty Good Day. The latter is a feel-good song and Vienna is touching and tugs at your heartstrings.
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.
