I've read the letter and been told many a time to 'settle in', but that's doing little to explain the situation. I'm slightly unclear as to how I arrived here (I highly doubt the door I went through was intended to lead to a school); would anyone care to enlighten me as to exactly what's going on?

My last two roommates left pretty suddenly, so it's been empty for a while now.

Yeah. It happens a lot without warning. Yuuko-san said it's because they learned whatever it is they came here to find out.

There's a lot of people here from different worlds. Riku-chan and Risa-san and Dark are from my world, but some people aren't from Earth. Some haven't even heard of it.
