The Nyanko Chronicle Report 185:
"Swords of Orlandia" Is Not A Sequel to "The Chronicles of Narnia"...

This late con report is specially dedicated to Maggie-san (yamisakura38)!
I have promised that I would put it up in return for commentating on her first con report.

Wow, I was suppossed to post this several months ago when I went to the anime convention in mid-August. That's right, I went to Anime Festival Orlando 9 on Sunday and it was a lot of fun! It's my favorite con out of the three that I go in Orlando every year. AFO 9 was the 9th con overall that I went since my con-going career started out in 2004. Anyway, I was very fortunate that Tropical Storm Fay didn't arrive in Florida until the next day. I was supposed to go on Saturday since it's always the best day to go to a con if you're planning a one-day attendance. However, I had to push it to Sunday due to work - no complaints about that and my work is very important.

I don't have time to write a detail report since I'm very busy these days now, but maybe I'll give you a quick brief report of the event along with the picture posting. I'll do my very best to make this short report enjoyable for all of you to read, ne! *smiles* All right, let's go!!

Event: Anime Festival Orlando 9
Theme of the Event: "Swords of Orlandia II - Throne Into Chaos"
Place: Wyndham Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida
Date: Sunday, August 17th, 2008

After buying the ticket, I spotted this really awesome pair of cosplayers featuring Sakura Kinomoto and Kero-chan from the series "Cardcaptor Sakura". Sakura Kinomoto's costume is perfect and Kero-chan was so cute! >///< Definitely worth to take a picture to start the con adventure.

After going to the Video Game room which is always the first thing that I check out when I go to the con, I decided to browse around the Dealer's Room. Too bad that in the Video Game room on Sunday didn't have "Cardcaptor Sakura Tetris" and that the tournament was on Friday. I was working on Friday, but that's all right because I participated the tournament back in March during MegaCon. Besides, there's always next time to play the game and participate the tournament. Dakara, sore wa daijoubu desu! ^___^

Anyway, I saw Suzaku and Anya from "Code Geass R2: Lelouch of the Rebellion" and asked to pose for a picture. They accepted it and it was so cool Anya pretending to use her portable diary. Okay, I don't honestly know what's the actual name of Anya's portable device even if I watch the series. *laughs in embarrassment*

Walking around the hotel after browsing the Dealer's Room (decided to shop later in the day), I was looking at so many cosplayers. So I was holding my brother's camera and looking around to take the pictures of the coolest cosplayers. Also, I was looking for certain characters that remind me of my friends. I thought this one featuring Snake from "Metal Gear Solid" was well-done and so I took a picture!

I think this otaku was making some kind of a Chocolate Pocky Tower with all those boxes, it was really amusing. I had a habit of always seeing curious or creative things like that. I carefully took this picture without the flash so that I wouldn't make the tower fall down while he was building it up. Not sure if those boxes were with Pocky or if it stood while he was stacking it up...

This picutre of Ursula from Disney's "The Little Mermaid" is especially dedicated to Kuro-sensei, Kasumi-san, and especially Misao-san! When I saw her, I couldn't contain the excitement for how pretty and creative the costume is! I was so amazed on how awesome it looks and so I kindly asked her to take her picture. I did this one for Misao-san since "The Litlle Mermaid" now reminds me of her. *smiles* So many con goers and cosplayers were taking lots of pictures of her and complimented on how pretty her costume is. SO TRUE!! >////<

It's Cosmo from Nickelodeon's "The Fairly Oddparents", I used to watch this show back then and always find Cosmo to be a funny fairy for he is always doing funny dorky things around Timmy and Wanda.

Whoohoo!! Finally some cosplayers from "Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE" that I've spotted while entering at the small cafe. There was Syaoran, Sakura-hime, and Tomoyo-hime sitting at the high chairs while relaxing. At least the first Syaoran cosplayer is a boy... *laughs very hard* Anyway, I was still on the search for a Fai and Kurogane cosplayer for Kuro-sensei and Kasumi-san since I told them that I'll do my best to find them. YOSH!!

Walking back to the convention center area once again and I spotted a really awesome cosplayer featuring No Face from Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away". If you have a good eye, you can notice that he had those tablets from Yubaba's bathhouse. I think he was offering me one...

So I tried my hardest to take the picture of this cap pin of Kurogane. *sighs* After all, it was the only thing that they had about Kurogane at the Dealer's Room. Honestly, I really tried my hardest with this!! *deeply bows* Sorry Kurogane fans and sadly... there were no Kurogane cosplayers at the con. ;____;

Lookie, lookie... a red Yoshi that I've spotted. Honestly, there were so many stores that have lot of items from "Super Mario Bros." You can also get a small glimpse of Bowser (reminds me of you, Kat! ^o^) Oh noes, I think this Red Yoshi is reaching in for that Death Note book! Perhaps that's why Bowser is lying there for Yoshi might already have written his name! X__x

Side note: Cute "Tsubasa Chronicle" bag featuring the Black Mokona! ^////^

Link holding the Super Scope 6 gun from the "Old School" Nintendo was so full of win right there!!

OH MY GOSH! It's the Fight Card from "Cardcaptor Sakura"!! *squees* I stopped at my tracks when I saw a bunch of cosplayers gathered for the upcoming Cosplay Contest. I gave a huge gasp when I saw the Fight Card and so I definitely had to take this picture for it was the first time that I saw a cosplyer doing one of the characters from the Clow Cards. The costume was so incrediblly beautiful and the way she did the hairstyle... WOW!! Now that just very impressive, ne!

Wahoo, I've found a Fai cosplayer for Kuro-sensei and it's a male cosplayer! YAY!! \o/ And so I quickly ask Fai and Sakura-hime to have a picture together. Maybe I should've asked for a solo picture the next time for Kuro-sensei, but that's all right. That magical staff looks pretty impressive and no... this doesn't have to do anything with Tropical Storm Fay heading to Florida.

It's the Engineer from the game "Team Fortress 2" and this one really reminded me of you, Kat! =P Perhaps it was those constant journal entries that you always rant so much about that game. I wish that you were at the con, but that's all right. Heehee~! To tell you the truth, I had to pin myself back at the wall since the space was so little to take this picture.

A very adorable and cute cosplayer from the series "Di-Gi Charat".

Kaname-sempai from "Vampire Knight".

Jason David Frank - played Tommy Oliver and most notable Ranger role was the Green Ranger from "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers". He player other rangers as well. This is the second time that I get to see him in the con. During last year's con, I went to his karate lesson activitiy, got my hands crushed when he showed me a technique (Ouchies! Demo ne , it was worth to have my hands held by him. *blushes*) took his picture, and glomped him. This year, I only attended his panel and gosh... he still looks so very hot! >///< *squees*

That's Josh (deviant user from dA: "Josh-Kakashi") cosplaying as Lockon Stratos from "Gundam 00". He said that I was the only one who recognized his character. He's such a nice guy and I love his costume! *thumbs high*  Later in the day, we played "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" on the Nintendo Wii. I was kicking major butt on his character using my Princess Peach's "Peach Bomber" attack. NO, I WAS NOT DOING ANY CHEAP SHOT!! He went saying in front of his friends like this: "I got my ass kicked by her and her "Peach Bomber"!" *laughs very hard*. He was the only cosplayer that I glomped at the con. Hee~ =P

TRIPLE YAY!! I've spotted some really awesome HOLiC and TRC cosplayers featuring Yuuko Ichihara, Fai D. Flowright (with the waiter's unifrom during the "Outo/Edonis" story), and Syaoran. Bonus points for the Fai cosplayer for two reasons: for she is also a fan of Yukito Tsukishiro and for making that super awesome sign of the "Big Kitty" and "Little Kitty". But wait, when I was just to walk away... I noticed something from her sign! Check it out, ne~

HYUU-HYUU!! IT'S THE "CAT'S EYE" CAFE LOGO SIGN~
Hee, that sign is definitely so full of WIN! ^_______^

It's Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney with his famous bubble catchprhase! Very awesome~

Cloud Strife from "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children".

A very cute Chii from CLAMP's "Chobits". I always see at least one on every con that I go. =P

I can't resist on taking pictures of Roxas from "Kingdom Hearts II", I love that character so very much! ^o^

I think this is somewhat related to one of the "Final Fantasy" series. Not sure if it is Tifa from "FFVII: Advent Children"...

WHOO! We have Renge from "Ouran High School Host Club"~ Very nice costume indeed!!

May from the latest "Pokemon" series before they changed the female companion to Dawn.

Setsuna F. Seiei from "Gundam 00", I almost miss that one and had to run to get a picture. *laughs very hard*

Cosplay Contest
Cosplay group from "Trinity Blood".

Syaoran from "Tsubasa Chronicle"!

I took this picture because I found this young Naruto Uzumaki copslayer so adorable. When he was onstage with his parents who where also cosplaying from the "Naruto" series, he went and gave a bowl of ramen to the emcee. Everyone in the room went like "AWWHH!" and I definitely have to agree that it was so cute~

OH WOW!! What a find as I was browsing in the Dealer's Room~
A "Cardcaptors" lunch box featuring one of the scenes from the Fight Card episode!
YESH! Totally awesome! ^o^

Is Kakashi Hatake giving Naruto Uzumaki his "Make Out Paradise" book? *is surprised*
Only HInata Hyuuga is witness to all this...!

*squees* Commander Gendou Ikari from "Neon Genesis Evangelion"
I got too excited and this is what happened when I took his picture, especially with his famous trademark pose!

Awwwh~ The lovely couple of Kairi and Sora from "Kingdom Hearts II".

NICE! Tetra from the video game "The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker"
Very nice touch with the Link pin and plushie, so very cute~!

Sugoi! "InuYasha's" Naraku sitting with one of his poisonous insects.

Random energy drinks. Hey look, someone is giving the "thumbs high" to recommend that it taste awesome.
Of course, I was talking with the Syaoran, Sakura, and Fai cosplayers that I took their pictures earlier.
I seem that have met them a lot because I was talking to them once again during the AMV contest and the closing ceremonies.
Coincidence... no HITSUZEN!! =D

That's Robin, the Con Supervisor for Anime Festival Orlando. She recognizes me very well because I was once a Volunteer for Anime Festival Orlando 5 in 2004. She's very nice and she is a huge fan of "Sailor Moon" - especially Usagi Tsukino (Serena). Look, she has a small keychain featuring those cute soot ball from Hayao Miyazaki's movie "Spirited Away"!!

A closer look at the cute soot ball keychain. I really want to find one for they are so cute!! >__<

Naruto Uzumaki from "Naruto: Shippuden".

A random kawaii cosplayer, lovely costume~

"Prince of Tennis" copslayer. I only watched one or two episodes from that series.
Please don't blame me if I don't know this character, ne... *is worried*

Saving the best for last, the stuff that I got at the convention!! *big fanfare*
I call it: "The Economizer's Guide to the Dealer's Room"

-"Super Mario Bros.", Toad keychain
-"Tsubasa Chronicle", Christmas Mokona keychain
-"Cardcaptor Sakura", chibi-Sakura Kinomoto Tomoeda Elementary School Summer Uniform version
-Bottle of Strawberry Ramune, fruit candy included with the Ramune
-"Swords of Orlandia" Adventurer's Guide (Free and I didn't wanted to miss a thing or get lost. ^.~)

Note to self:
I hope that the next con that I go, I better make con reports brief and on time!!

Anyway, that's the con report from Anime Festival Orlando 9 back in August.
Can't wait for MegaCon 2009 in late February. It's just around the corner~
YOSH!! \o/
