Oh man, I'm hopelessly behind on classics myself. I was able to see a few in high school when I took a History of American Film class, but my teacher was sorta obsessed with Paul Newman (which wasn't entirely bad since Paul Newman was really hot) so it wasn't as many as I would have liked. Part of the reason I have a Netflix account is to catch up on all those movies I need to/should have seen.

I'm not familiar with Dylan at all outside of "Like a Rolling Stone" - neither of my parents were into the folky protest music thing. My dad's more of a Beatles/Rolling Stones/Cream kinda guy and my mom's more into R&B/Soul (Temptations, Jackson 5, The Supremes, etc). So I have those covered, it's just everything else is a big 'ole question mark. I don't think Dylan's voice will be a problem; I love Rufus and have warmed up to Jeff Mangum's screeching - between those two and Joanna Newsom I'm ready for anything. Would you recommend any particular album of his to start with?

I'm not as familiar with Pink Floyd or Zeppelin as I'd like to be, but my impression as it is now is that Led Zeppelin is the better band. They're kind of apples and oranges, but they get compared with each other a lot and are divisive (like the neverending Beatles/Rolling Stones circlejerk), so, there you go. I'm more impressed by Led Zeppelin because they started out as straight up Blues Rock and by the end were the precursor to Heavy Metal - quite an accomplishment in my eyes. Pink Floyd's album after album of guitar masturbation. Zzzzzz. Can you tell I am not much of a fan of Prog Rock?

(Jesus, do I ever shut up?)
