Some more things I've done:

One day started with Nick and I going to Roppongi to check out the aptly named Roppongi Hills. We ended up paying the 10 dollar entrance fee to experience the 52nd, 53rd, and 54th floors of the Mori Tower. The 52nd floor is an observation deck. The 53rd floor is a contemporary art museum. The 54th floor is the roof. Open air. It was amazing.

After that, we attended a Kabuki performance at was cheap as free because we paid through the school. The theatre was packed with Japanese students who must have paid the same cheap as free ticket price through their respective schools. The play was about Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Shizuka-Gozen, and a fox who wanted nothing more than to play a drum made from the hide of his mother. I managed to only fall asleep once -- I consider this an acomplishment.

After the play we ended up walking from the theatre all the way back to Roppongi. On the way we saw the Diet building, the Prime Minister's quarters, and a love hotel. Oh, Japan.

This past weekend Alex, Nick, and I went to a flea market in front of Hanazono Shrine in Shinjuku and a bought a statue of a dog (who I was told had achieved the rank of Yokozuna in Sumo) for 500 yen. It was pretty rad.

Ryou had his birthday yesterday. Many good foods were eaten.

The new Hayao Miyazaki movie, "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea" opened last week. I'm going to try and see it before I leave. I'm hoping I'll understand enough of it to really feel that warm tingly feeling you get when you watch a Miyazaki film.

Speaking of that guy, because Ponyo just came out, they showed Totoro on television the other night. I hadn't seen it since I was 10 or so, and I was surprised at how much of the dialogue I could understand. Granted, the movie if really simple and the plot is nearly nonexistant, but still.

Well, I'm out of time for now. Until next time.
